Exam Pattern
Assam Police written exam has 100 MCQ questions for 100 marks in 2 hours. There is NO negative marking. Selected candidates also appear for Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Examination.

1. General Knowledge and Current Affairs (25 Marks)
- National Events: Government schemes, Parliament, Constitution articles, important laws
- Assam Current Events: State government policies, Assam Police structure, local developments
- Awards and Appointments: National awards, sports awards, key government appointments
- Sports: National and international events, Assam sports achievements
2. General English (25 Marks)
- Grammar: Tenses, voice, narration, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions
- Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms and phrases
- Comprehension: Unseen passage with 4-5 MCQs
- Error Spotting: Grammatically incorrect sentences
3. Elementary Mathematics (25 Marks)
- Percentage: calculations, profit and loss, discount
- Ratio and Proportion: simplification, compound ratio
- Simple and Compound Interest: formulas and applications
- Time and Work: efficiency problems
- Number System: HCF, LCM, divisibility rules
4. Reasoning and Mental Ability (25 Marks)
- Number Series: identify patterns and find missing terms
- Coding-Decoding: letter and number codes
- Analogies: word and number relationships
- Direction Sense: compass directions, distance calculation
- Blood Relations: family tree problems
- Odd One Out: classification
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
After written exam, candidates must pass PET including running, long jump, and high jump. Standards differ for male/female and Constable/SI posts.
- Male Constable: 1600m run in 6 min, long jump 3.8m, high jump 1.2m
- Female Constable: 800m run in 4 min, long jump 2.5m, high jump 0.9m
